Sturdy Tub
A Sturdy Tub is the intermediate
tub and has the following uses:
A Sturdy Tub can hold 100 Dung and 20 Water.
You can add more water at any time to continue a process.
After some number of uses, the tub will crumble to dust (no resources returned).
To build:
Costs:
Built: in a compound, uses 7x13 cells
Skill/Tech required: none? or maybe Flax Processing (ask a newbie?)
Comments
- This tub is more robust than the basic tub and about the same cost - build this one.
- Always better to rot flax in a river/lake rather than a tub as the river/lake doesn't break.
- If the tub is near the end of its lifetime, salvage it to recover some materials rather than letting them go to dust.
- If built and used in banks, one or two of the bank will wear out first giving warning that now is the time to salvage/rebuild.
- If you can afford it, the marble tub is considerably longer lasting.
Tub crumbling
Research has shown that a sturdy tub lasts longer if you rot 100 dung in a session vs 20 dung in a session. (Used solely for rotting dung, 20 dung at a time, some tubs have lasted some 28 cycles. Reports of tubs used 100 dung at a time have produced at least half again the amount of saltpeter.) There are still unanswered questions though...
- Does the number of times the dung rotting process is started make a difference? (Does the tub last longer if you finish off 100 dung without letting the tub go to zero water?)
- Does the number of times dung is added to the tub make a difference? (If I keep adding more dung each time I add water, does it last longer, or shorter?)
- Does the number of time I take things out of the tub make a difference?
- I have rotted dung in sturdy tubs using the 20 water/20 dung per session. With this method I get a crumbled tub in the area of 34-38 uses per tub. I always leave the saltpeter and pick it up when the tub crumbles. OldJoe
Experience has shown:
- A tub will crumble when being filled with water.
- This has not been confirmed by enough players, to my knowladge this is not true. -Michaelk
- Pretty sure this is true, test it by repeatedly filling an empty tub (100 times might do it, but might need more - try at least 500 times) -- FaceAnkh
- A tub will crumble when being filled with Sulphurous Water.
- A tub will crumble when being topped off with Sulphurous Water.
- No reports of a tub crumbling when flax is added.
- No reports of a tub crumbling when Rotten Flax is removed.
- No reports of a tub crumbling when Dung is added.
- Yes - This just happened to me (Ankhefenamun)
- I'll second this; my tub crumbled when I added the dung, after the water had already been added - Japto
- No reports of a tub crumbling when saltpeter is removed.
- No reports of a tub crumbling when sulfur is removed.
Question: Has anyone ever seen a tub go to dust other than when liquid is added?
- Even if a crumble-check is only made when liquid is added, it is possible that "wear" is added by other events, but just not checked until later.
