Determining how your lab works

When you first build your acoustics lab, you can't do anything with it. To be able to work chimes, you have to add upgrades.
Each upgrade enables you to work the chime in a new way. To work your acoustics lab effectively, you need to determine which way all or most upgrades move the tune.
Each way to work the chime is used to move the tune around on the chime map, see chime tuning, for the map.
To determine how your upgrades move the tune, simply try working a tune, and hit the same upgrade a couple of times. If the tune doesn't change to another tune, simply try another upgrade. Don't throw out the chime, you can determine the moves of all upgrades using just one chime.
When your tune changes to another tune, make a note of which way your upgrade moved according to the map. Then continue with the other upgrades.
All upgrades move the tune, and just because you've observed a move on an upgrade, doesn't mean that you're done with that upgrade, as the movement of upgrades aren't discrete. You might end up with a movement of approx north-north-east for an upgrade.
Continue untill you are confident that you've got all the movements mapped.
Be avare that the chime map isn't as simple as the wiki map, some tunes are harder to get to than others, simply because the opening to them is smaller. You can also experience something like hills and valleys. that are harder to navigate around. If you get truly stuck, before you've completet your mapping. Start over with at new tune. When you've got all the upgrades mapped, you should be able to move anywhere on the map.
For an example of a movement map see Sunset Enterprises under chime tuning.
Happy mapping ~McArine
