The Test of the Ka

Ka is the Egyptian life-force. You must prepare a place for Ka in order to secure your place in the afterlife. This will be achieved by building your tomb and filling it with the required materials to sustain your Ka until it can be reunited with the gods. Only the most prepared will be guaranteed a place with the gods. Don't be prideful lest the gods punish you.

Test Details

Every week, the top 7 players with the most Ka points will progress in the Test of Ka. To pass the test, progress 3 times.

Points scoring works as follows, every week you make a pledge of how many total boxes you think you will be able to make and store in your Ka Tomb that week. Every box that you make up to that pledge number (regardless of which God that box is dedicated to) counts as 2 points. Every box you make over your pledged amount counts for 1 point. So if you pledge 5 boxes and actually make and store 7 boxes, you would get 12 points. If you fail to make your pledged amount, you get zero points.

In addition, every day at a random time, an hour-long event will be scheduled with no notice. This event will give the name of a specific, random God and every box placed in your tomb dedicated to this God gives you two points (regardless of whether it takes you over your pledged amount).

Finally, the number of new points for this week are modified by the boxes built by all the other players participating this week. A player who builds boxes between the 40th and 60th percentile have their points boosted by 150% (20 points goes to 30 points), points for people who built boxes in the 95% or higher percentile are cut to 1/3 (150 goes to 50). (The Gods dislike conspicuous displays of wealth).

Your new score is then calculated as 0.85 * (last week score + this week points). The 0.85 reflects the 15% decay mentioned in the test description and is done this week, not next, which is slightly confusing.

Each week the top 7 players will progress and the requirements for all boxes will be reset.

Cumulative totals of Ka Boxes stored in your tomb count towards the ability to make a Golden Cog. Note, Golden Cogs are based on boxes stored not your score. These are new items which will allow upgrades to existing buildings. The total number of boxes that must be stored before you can make a cog is currently unknown but thought to be about 200.

Principles

To Build

Ka Tomb

Build in a Medium Construction Site (requires Level 2 Project Management):

Sarcophagus

Unfinished Sarcophagus

Made in a Master's Casting Box
Cool Time: 1 Hour (2 cc/min)

Finished Sarcophagus

Made in a Master's Forge
Cool Time: 30 Minutes

Ka Vice

One Ka Vice is used to create one box. Thus, to make 20 boxes to install in your tomb, you would need 20 vices.

Upgrade

First Stage: Capacity 750

Second Stage: Capacity 1000

Third Stage: Capacity 1250

Fourth Stage: Capacity 1500(presumed)

Presumably it follows this pattern up to a capacity of 2000, but my appetite for chewing up my nails failed me at this point

I have verified this and the pattern does continue up to a capacity of 2000. -Lavitz
There are no physical changes after the Third upgrade (flags). -Lavitz

First Stage First Upgrade. This upgrade adds a wall around the main structure.

Second Upgrade. This upgrade adds an entry way. Third Upgrade. This upgrade adds green flags to the entry way.

Golden Cogs and Ka Shrines

A Golden Cog is made at a Ka Shrine. You can make 1 Golden Cog for every 200 boxes you have stored in your Ka Tomb.

A Golden Cog can only be made by a person who has stored at least 200 Ka Boxes in their Ka Tomb.

To make a Golden Cog, simply place a Fragile Cog on the Ka Shrine, then anoint with 1deben of Holy Oil, within a minute, the blue Fragile Cog is transformed into a Golden Cog.

Notes

From System at release:

Pluribus here... I should note a typo in the Paint descriptions... White Paint is Whiteish paint.'
Okay, so does that mean that White paint may be used, or that only White paint qualifies as Whiteish [sic]? -Mnhtp
Any paint with the text 'White' in the name may be used, so Ghost White, Navajo White and White all qualify (along with any others I missed)
Ah, got it. Pluribus's statement was ambiguous. Or was he referring to the Shrine requirements...? -Mnhtp

Warning... Don't transfer ownership of Ka Vices... they are first stage Ka Boxes and per player... No one else will be able to submit them.
