Happy new year!
Today I began my quest to own a full set of vegetable seeds. I love to run, so I set out to visit every University of Worship and ask for a packet of vegetable seeds. Running would also help me figure out where to build a camp, if not in 7 Lakes.
Keeping track of prices of commodities is one of my sources of fun in Egypt. The Goods is a great indicator of prices, rarely being more than twice as expensive as any other source. (I often wonder whether its pricing mechanism could be brought into the real world.)
I've been slowly getting a feeling for prices in the latest Age. Two items, red sand and white sand, have huge inventories, and probably shouldn't be carried by the store. Although they were difficult to botain in earlier ages, now they are gathered just like ordinary sand, and are only a little rarer. Another item, cabbage juice, can be produced from cabbage with minimal effort. Thread is only useful for making linen cloth. It would be hard to remove these from the stock now, but it could be done.
I saw several sights today. Aidenna was composing a mosaic sculpture in Upper Egypt. A huge crowd was sacrificing valuables to the gods at a vigil in Lower Egypt -- that vigil had been burning for 2 days! There was a huge sculpture with sprites on the path just south of the vigil. And in CotS, I saw a fountain, built by the builders, on a huge golden pedestal. What a run!
