Questions of Character

The question I'd ask is why? Where's Emmanuel's accreditation? I mean, if someone wants to donate a chest of 100 metal to me, I'd call them a saint - but what's that worth? What do we know of Emmanuel other than he's an intelligent character with a knack for rhetoric? -Aereon:

I'll try again as well, as I already answered (my opinion) before. If one does such a stunt, and claims to "challenge" Egypt, then running away with all the resources, he might enjoy his bits of metal for a few days. As far as the rest of the population will be concerned, he'll be burned out: so these bits of metal will be the last resource he'll ever manage to trade or scam for. -- ShanVizen

OOC: I know someone is going to post it, so might as well get it over with myself. There is much evidence Emmanuel is a NPC, played by either an events member or Teppy. His rhetoric are quite rare amongst players and eerily similar to Gharib's and (sometimes) Pharaoh's, and he only logs on during his announcements and taunts. -- ShanVizen

What does it matter where Emmanuel's accreditation is? Maybe you don't agre with playing a long with him. But is it really much different than doing tests? The only difference is Emmanuel's tests don't give you titles ingame. If you'll do tests for the stranger why not do (for what i can see) simpler tests for Emmanuel? ---Zatarg---

Simple - Materials I throw at Tests are just that, thrown away. No one can use them against me in another, competitive single-pass test. Not that I'm against Emmanuel's Challenges, but I wonder what's the point? The Stranger is, and has been, an integrated part of the game... what is Emmanuel? -Aereon:

Another "Stranger"...? Two are better than one. Besides, Gharib is a tamed Stranger. Emmanuel is more interesting. -- ShanVizen

Why is people being able to use them against you in other tests a bad thing. Is egypt just to lazy to try and do what the tests are mainly about, be better than others? As shan said: Two are better than one. So what is the problem with Emmanuel except that he is 'new'? Just because he hasn't been in the game since the start doesn't mean he shouldn't be allowed to? Is egypt only concerned about personal gain, and not the (for want of a better word) meaning of the game, to make a perfect society?. ---Zatarg---

We should move to the Forum. To be better than others... Some tests are like that, yes - my point exactly. So why give away an edge? The problem isn't being new, but just as tradition can be outdated, new doesn't mean improved. I'm not exactly an old fart, myself. My point could be applied: "Is egypt only concerned about [the]...meaning of the game, to make a perfect society?"... Don't get me wrong, his Challenges are intriguing and entertaining. But can we afford such distractions with the impending conclusion to the Seven Disciplines of Man? Or if you'd argue that such Challenges improve gameplay, what would happen if I hosted my own 'Challenge' and named the winner the "greatest Leader" of Egypt? Who would value such a statement? This is my worry, an Egypt soon full of empty "titles ingame". -Aereon:

"empty titles ingame"? The titles we get from the tests are only as 'full' as those who want them to be, want them to be... For example those who care not for tests don't really care about the titles do they? ---Zatarg---
