Allied Research of Khartoum

We are re-opening active, community-supported research here in Khartoum. The previous regional research guild, O.K.R.A., no longer has an active elder, so we are attempting to fill the resulting gap. Unlike O.K.R.A., our purpose is limited to organizing the research effort, warehousing raw materials and finished goods, and transporting required materials and goods to the universities. We will also redistribute raw materials to those who want to donate their time to create finished goods for research.

Our guild hall, is at 687, -6369. The rest of our compound is down the pretty landscaped avenue. (Thank you, sana, for such a lovely site.)

The Great Brass Relay Race ~ Current Brass Count: 1750

We are starting our drive to finish toxin extraction by gearing up to build beer kettle kits. If there is enough extra mats, participants will get at least one free beer kettle kit. If there is not enough extra kettles to go around, the elders will chose recipients at random, i.e. by raffle. Elders will be the last to get free beer kettles.

The metal processing will take place at KWG, 508 -6131. If you would like to participate and are not a member of KWG, please apply at the KWG guild hall, which is just across the street.

The cycle is:

Smelt the ore: Smelt 50 tin to each 149 copper. Ore is in the huge chest on the north side of the smelting pots. To the south side of the smelting pots is a chest for smelted metal, and one with charcoal. To the north of the ore chest is a tent called "ARK Tent"; you may place clinker here. There is also additional copper and tin ore in the tent, should you need it.

Start the brass: The 4 reactories run along the south wall of the building. Each has a chest by it labeled with the reactory number. The chests contain oil and resin for use in the reactories. The large chest marks Reactory 1, the smaller chests mark Reactories 2 through 4. Make sure the reactory has no brass in it, then put in 149 copper, 50 tin, and 100 oil. When you fire the reactory, it will take between 5 and 60 teppy minutes to warm up. Once it has warmed up, it will take 8 teppy hours to create the brass. The brass must be doped with 7 Towering Palm resin at 7:59:35 to get the maxim output of 145 brass. You can dope some seconds after 7:59:35 and get the maxim output, but it is best to shoot for 7:59:35 exactly.

Keep the guild informed: Once the reactory has warmed up, please note the time it started, how much time is left, and the reactory number in both the ARK and KWG chats. If you are wiki savvy, you can update this wiki page, as well. This way people know to make sure running reactories are doped on time.
