There's a lot of space in the RSO Sunset Area, and the Sunset Veneries take full advantage of our location. All three of our Veneries start at the Sunset Obelisk, located West of the Red Sea Oasis Chariot Stop, across the Nile, and a bit South, at 1475 2240.
Sunset Venery has somehow evolved into our Thought Guild, so there's also several other linked pages:
- EHT discusses the design of our Empty Hand Tower
- Gearbox Design discusses the optimum design of 3-output gearboxes
Plan on spending about two hours apiece on each Venery, and try to arrange your schedule so that there is a Sunset or Sunrise while you are running the Sunset Mountain Tour. All three of the Veneries take you into the Caldera where our Gliderport is located, so plan of having a bit of fun with Launch the Glider Sequence.
~~~~~~~Venery~~~~~~~ | Keys | Status | Incentive | Description |
Sunset River Tour | 18 | Available | 100 Papyrus Seeds | A simple, three branch Venery that's used as a self-guided tour of the Papyrus Loop and the Facilities that are available to guests and guildmembers |
Sunset Mountain Tour | 17 | Available | | A puzzle tour of our Raeli Gliderport and Sunset National Park. This is our showpiece Venery. Try to schedule your visit so you can watch a Sunset or a Sunrise |
Sunset Obstacle Course | 25 | Available French and English | | A very devious route that will test your camera skills. This course is designed as a challenge for experienced players, and it's unlikely that you'll find all of the lockboxes on your first attempt. |
Help Banner Tour | 24 | Built on Handshake Island | Ferry Sail | Sunset Venery is providing development support for a venery on the Welcoming Island. |
The Sunset Group is set up as a destination resort, a "Quaint Historical Farm", where you can dabble in a variety of midrange technologies. If you'd like to contribute to our on-going projects, the contribution chest is at 1465 2300 in the Flax/Glass Compound, by the Pottery Wheels.
Getting Started
- Click on the Venery and "Attempt this Venery".
- One of the Venery Designers will "Begin the Game".
- Watch for the Welcome Message in your Main chat window. You can't get to this message again without restarting the venery, so read it carefully. Subsequent messages can be revisited. You can also use the clipboard button if you want to print the clues.
- Click on the Venery again, and "Look for Keys" to get your first Hint
- Click on any object that might be related to the hint and, more generally, anything that might be related to the Venery. Nothing says that you have to find the clues in order, in fact there is a fully layer of hints that will allow yo to backtrack when you find a lock before you find the key.
- If a Lockbox doesn't need a key, or if you already have the key, you'll get a new key and a CLUE from the inside of the lockbox, that suggests a use for your new key.
- If a Lockbox needs a key that you don't have you will get a HINT from the outside of the lockbox. The Hint suggests where to find the key that you still need for this lockbox. Once you find the required key you'll need to revisit this Lockbox. There's a catch. Hints are intended to help you out when you accidently find a lockbox, and need to backtrack and find the required key. If you already have the key, you'll never see the Hint. This can be a bit mysterious when somebody else is talking about a Hint that you never saw, because you didn't need to backtrack.
- To check your progress, press ESC to popup your avatar window, and select Tests > Venery > Keyring.
- Once you've collected the right number of keys, return to the Venery Base for the final Lockbox.
- Vote, then contact one of the Designers.
- The Designer will "Finish the Venery", and release the extra "Look for Keys" menu item that will drive you nuts otherwise.
- A player is allowed 36 hours to complete the venery, and multiple concurrent players are just fine.
- are stuck
- are simply not interested in "playing games"
- want to review the technical structure of the Venery.
WARNING:
The Veneries won't be nearly as much fun after you've read the complete text for all the hints and clues.
