Khartoum Welcoming Guild

Hello new immigrants. This post, over at on the atitd.net forum, is one of the best introductions to the game. If you are not sure about the game be sure to read it, be warned however, it is a bit long. Citizenship is a good step by step guide to completing the steps required for citizenship. But if you like to discover things yourself, you might think it contains too many spoilers. Another good wiki page is Introduction.
Rules of Conduct has some boring but important stuff.

Locations:

Purpose

To help new immigrants so the Khartoum Region by helping them with Citizenship and the first few levels. In conjuction with this we also sponsor the Public Works in the area so beginning citizens and the general public can have access to more advanced technology. Most of the buildings in the Public Works are usable by all, a few may be limited to members in the KWG (this practice is subject to review, possibly all buildings will be public in the future).

Mentoring

If you are working around the red banner (near S Arch) and have your allow immigrants flag on (found under Utility, Options:Interface) you will attract new immigrants. This includes the Public Works area. So if you are too busy to talk to new immigrants you should turn your flag off.

Greeting an Immigrant
Remember, a new immigrant is probably ignorant of the interface. What may seem rude to you, like not even saying hello may be because they can't find the right chat box. Also they may stand around for a while, while the system downloads graphics or they are exploring their menu items. It is best to walk up to them and say hello in "Main" if they don't answer you may want to make sure you are in front of them and say hello again, so they see it on the screen. If after a few minutes there is no response, and you have things to do, open up a chat box with them, say hello in the chat box and say they can ask questions here. Also remember when you try to talk to them, even though you are talking on main or in a personal chat, they may answer in Regional, so be sure to check there.

Things a new immigrant should know

KWG Public Works

The public works is intended as a place where new immigrants can learn how to operate different buildings and where members can multi-task. If you wish to mass produce a certain item, you may find that the equipment at OKRA is easier to use.

Any time you operate any piece of equipment voluntary donations are requested to make it easier to replace those items that crumble. If any piece of equipment is not public, and not noted as such below, please let an Elder know.

Other outdoor equipment may be found scattered around the complexes or behind other guilds for convenience of use. To date that includes firepits watermines offsite refinerys (smelting ore and mining food etc) and kitchens for use out in the Region. We have added in the past an Essence of Harmony and more recently a Conflict Shrine which can be found near or around the Chariot stop for convenience sake.

* equipment is public, if you leave items on it they may be gone when you get back. If you find items on it, please put them in the Kinsman or other appropriate chest

KWG Arts Complex

KWG has expanded over time to cover public equipment for more advanced uses and in particular the Art & Thought discplines. A new and Mammoth Build is now located West of KWG along the road at (245 -6142). This building houses various publicly accessible equipment plus a tasting table and is next door to the public Raeli oven. If you like to dable in the art of fireworks or paint this is the place for you!

KWG Museum

This is a building for people to build their Art and Thought displays in. We even have a curator. If you want to put a puzzle or art item in the museum simply contact a Patriarch or Elder of KWG and apply to the guild. After acceptance you can place your items in the museum. For more detailed information please contact Shiva as he is doing the nitty gritty of organization if you aren't sure what to do. Happy painting and puzzlemaking :+)
